HFSLIP

This page is a "stub." You might have gotten here from the Wikipedia, so I'll try to bring you up to speed quickly.

I'm Fred Vorck, I had a significant role in the early development of HFSLIP, an open source utility designed to update a Windows 2000, XP or 2003 installation source with the latest hotfixes (not just service packs!). This software actually slipstreams hotfix files, DirectX 9, Windows Installer, and other binaries right into the source and then makes an ISO without altering your original Windows files, and it's smart enough to know which hotfix files are newer and which are older.

In 2000, I published a process to prevent Internet Explorer and Outlook Express from installing with Windows using modified INF files based on what I knew about Windows NT 4. I eventually created a set of files to unzip and drop right into the i386 directory to do this automatically. I expanded the fileset to include many, many other obsolete or typically unused components as well such as IIS, FrontPage, Fax Service, NetMeeting, WBEM, PictureIT, etc.

HFSLIP's creator, TommyP, made the program compatable with my fileset, so that you can slipstream Windows and remove IE and several other components so you have a clean install.
